Governor’s Coordinating Offices Host U.S. Embassies From Around the Globe
Share Best Practices on Engaging Communities on Inclusivity, Women’s Empowerment, Youth Engagement

ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Governor’s Coordinating Offices – led by the Governor’s Office for Children along with the Anne Arundel County Partnership for Children, Youth and Families – today presented best practices on engaging communities around issues of inclusivity, women’s empowerment, and youth engagement to 25 members from U.S. embassies and consulates from around the globe. These members are participating in a course on public diplomacy provided by the U.S. State Department’s Foreign Service Institute. The event was held in Crownsville, Maryland.

“The Hogan administration is thrilled to share their valuable best practices with an international community of folks seeking to improve community engagement in their home countries,” said Acting Executive Director of the Governor’s Office for Children, Jaclin Warner Wiggins. “On behalf of Governor Hogan’s administration, our offices embrace opportunities to participate in meaningful dialogue about providing children and families with tools to help them thrive in their communities. The knowledge shared during today’s event will certainly also be used to benefit Maryland families.”

The Governor’s Coordinating Offices consists of seven unique offices who use a shared services model to save taxpayers’ money. Staff from these offices coordinate services, programs, and policy issues across the state to connect the people of Maryland with needed resources statewide. Each office has a specific mission.

This event included staff from the Governor’s Office for Children who presented on youth engagement; the Governor’s Office on Crime Control and Prevention who presented on issues surrounding juvenile justice; the Governor’s Office on Small, Minority, and Women Business Affairs who presented on matters involving women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship, and minority-owned businesses; as well as the Governor’s Office on Community Initiatives who presented on building more vibrant communities, celebrating diversity, and disseminating needed resources to Maryland communities.
